Isle of Wight 2011
On 22nd of September 2011 year 5 set off for the Isle of Wight.
We were staying at the YHA hostel in Totland Bay and our mission was to discover more about the coastal erosion that formed the geography of the area surrounding Alum Bay.
We walked from Totland Bay up to Tennyson memorial where we read some poems about the sea that we had written in class. Then we walked down to Alum Bay. We took a boat trip around the Needles and then did water colour paintings of the cliffs and view. After this we walked back via Headon Hill to the youth hostel. In total the children walked more than 7 miles!
During the evening the children dressed as pirates and had a pirate banquet!
After a good nights rest (?), the children set off back to Yarmouth where we had a tour of the Yarmouth lifeboat. We will be raising money for the lifeboat in the next few weeks- details to follow. Yarmouth C of E Primary school invited us to stay for lunch before we embarked on the Yarmouth town trail. At 3.10pm year 5 boarded the ferry back to Lymington.
Mrs Pepin, Mrs Smith and Mrs Lawrence would like to thank the children and the parent volunteers for making it the most enjoyable visit yet. We look forward to inviting you to our class assembly soon.
