year 6

Welcome to Year 6!

It is a great time for pupils and staff. Being at the upper end of the school brings experiences and responsibilities which give us all the chance to thrive. Every day is a learning experience and we love to share and teach each other. It is great to model life skills with the younger children and aid their development.

There are 5 key staff in Year 6. Mr Littlewood, Mrs McLean, Mrs Dunne, Mrs Macey-Dare and Mrs Lansdowne.

The New Boy

On Wednesday the 8th of September 2010, we were waiting for Mr. Littlewood at school (Mrs Peter the old year six teacher left on an early retirement). Mrs Cawthra kept saying that if he didn’t turn up soon she would fire him and that it wouldn’t be a very good start! But we knew she was joking. Then after about five minutes Mrs Cawthra got a phone call from Mr. Littlewood saying please can you open the school gates on to the playground. Mrs Cawthra and Mrs Dunne took us out on to the playground and opened the gates. Then an Aston Martin drove in. A man called Nick Carter (double O three and a half) got out, he was dressed in a suit and tie Mr. Littlewood was wearing a suit and a pink tie. Nick then walked round to the other side of the car and opened the door for Mr. Littlewood to get out.
Nick let lots of children sit in the car! All of the children pretended to drive it and they were very pleased. Nick came into our classroom to talk to us. The Aston Martin was eleven years old; it was a goldy sliver type of colour. It came from a dealer and the type was a DB7. DB stands for David Brown. David Brown’s first company was designing tractors.

After all the excitement we came and did our first lesson after six weeks. Our first lesson was rights and responsibilities. Nick walked around watching us work. Then Mr. Littlewood did our ten commandments. Before lunch Nick was telling us that he was a policeman (a driving policeman). He also had to fly to Scotland to arrest a man (for not turning up at court). When Nick got to the police station it took longer to ask the man questions than it took to fly to Scotland and back!!!!
After Lunch Nick Carter got into his beautiful Aston Martin and did a perfect U turn and drove off.
