On Friday we decided to take a squad of 10 to the Astro tournament as we didn't have the numbers to field 2 competitive teams with reserves. This also gave some of the players a rest during the afternoon. Brockenhurst Primary School Football club will be looking towards building up our second team over the coming months.

The girls selected for the Astro Tournament were a credit  to the school and played some very good football. Having found their feet with a draw against the Mighty Ashley, the girls went on to win their second and third pool games against South Baddesley and Blackfield comfortably. Winning their first round pool, our girls were pitched against Waterside in the semi finals, and won through to meet their rivals of old, The Orchard School, in the final. The girls played incredibly well holding the score-line to 0-0 at half time, but were edged into second place at the final whistle.

It was fair testiment to the girls when the Orchard coach spoke to them after the game and explained that his  team had played 20 matches , winning 4 tournaments and that Brockenhurst had given them their toughest competition to date.

Many congratulations go to the girls, who have worked hard to improve their game. Well done

Our thanks go to team managers, coaches and drivers on the day, drawn not only from the staff, but also the very supportive parent body we have at Brockenhurst., who re-arranged other committments to support and encourage the team. We are very grateful to Tony, who has altered work shifts to bring some valuable knowledge and experience to the girls' training on a Friday lunch time.
